About us
Skavenhus - Hospitality and fjord views meet since 1936
Welcome to Skavenhus, a cosy restaurant near Skjern with panoramic views of Ringkøbing Fjord.
Skavenhus has existed since 1936, but in May 1995 it was taken over by Frank Jensen, who carried out a thorough remodelling and extension in 1998.
Among other things, the restaurant has been expanded so that it is now possible to feed up to 160 guests at a time.
Skavenhus is open for parties all year round.
The restaurant is located with a view directly over Ringkøbing Fjord. The water is only 40 metres away.

We offer both set menus and flexible build-your-own events, so you can customise the evening according to your wishes. Our rooms are suitable for both intimate parties and larger groups, and accommodation is available on site.
Practical info
Booking: When booking party rooms, any deposit is agreed individually.
Payment: Settled on the day of the event.
Special groups: Bus companies and larger parties (min. 30 people) can be offered customised menus.
Minimum number: Prices apply to parties with a minimum of 20 people.

Ringkøbing Fjord
Ringkøbing Fjord is not a fjord in the traditional sense, but a shallow lagoon separated from the North Sea by the narrow Holmsland Dune. The fjord stretches over 300 square kilometres and forms a unique setting for some of West Jutland's most beautiful nature areas.
At Skavenhus, the fjord is just a few minutes' walk away. Here you can enjoy the silence and open landscape, feel the wind and find peace. The shallow water and many inlets make the area ideal for activities such as SUP, kayaking, windsurfing and kitesurfing, and it's also an eldorado for anglers looking for sea trout and garfish.
The fjord is also home to a rich bird life. Many rare species rest and breed here, and Skjern Enge at the north end of the fjord is known for its bird towers and nature interpretation. The entire area around the fjord is flat and open - perfect for cycling and hiking with panoramic views of water and meadow.
In short, Ringkøbing Fjord is a quiet, natural contrast to the roaring North Sea - and a place where you can relax or fill your day with nature experiences.
